Behind the Blog

Hi and welcome! If you've found us, great! Everyone wants to know about the life behind the blog, so here's a little tidbit to give you some insight. :)

Gremlin is a four year old Pug and Chow mix, with a hint of what I suspect is some kind of Bull-type breed, Lab, and possibly a herding breed of some kind. He's smart as a whip, extremely food-driven, and a people-pleaser. He weighs in at 40 lbs or a bit less at his ideal weight, runs like the wind, and adores any kind of toys... though Chuck-It balls seem to be his favorite.

Oh, and squeakies. Can't forget the squeakies.

He's the first dog I've had and, as a result, has a few issues that are the direct result of an inexperienced dog owner. Minus a few months spent in a shelter, I've had him since four weeks old. I have never felt such a strong bond with an animal in my life, and I suppose you could call him my "heart dog."

As for the human of the blog, my name is Jade. I'm twenty and work for a puppy training place in the San Francisco (SF Puppy Prep -- they're amazing!) and am an aspiring animal behaviorist -- particularly for dogs. I like to think I'm a decent artist and writer, which I'm sure will help in my career of choice, but I have a real passion for working with dogs.

Together, Grem and I make a team. He is trained (and I'm training myself!) with positive reinforcement, and what a difference it makes! The majority of this blog will center around my progress with him and his training and behavior problems, and how we work through them without the use of pain or punishment.

We hope you enjoy the blog and stay a while!

"Woof!"
